I’m off on a short fieldtrip today - yes, actually looking at rocks, and sandstones in particular (undoubtedly more of that after the event). So a brief post on what is, to me, a beautiful sand from Lang’s Beach on the far northeastern coast of New Zealand’s North Island. The sand was collected by friends who had the good fortune to visit. Here in Indonesia, if you are asked a question such as “have you been there?” (or even of an eighty-year-old spinster “are you married?”) the response is rarely a simple “no”, but rather, and delighfully optimistically, “belum”, not yet. Saya belum pergi ke Lang’s Beach - I haven’t been there yet, but it’s on my list.
